About The Cake Girl

Custom cake design for weddings, birthdays and special events, along with cupcakes made from scratch daily in the bakery. The menu carries more than 80 handcrafted cupcake flavors, with 12 rotating into the case each week, and custom flavors available by special order. Orders can be picked up in store, delivered locally, or shipped nationwide as Crave'n Cups, hand-layered cake jars. The bakery also franchises the concept to other cities.

The concept began in 2008 with Kristina Lavallee, who learned to bake in Puerto Rico alongside her mother, Margarita Perez, a professional chef. Kristina studied at the University of Central Florida's Rosen College of Hospitality Management, earning degrees in Hospitality Management and Food Service & Restaurant Management, and later built the business with her husband Kirby. She started by selling at farmers markets and festivals, moved into a mobile dessert truck that traveled across Florida, and opened the first brick-and-mortar bakery in Tampa in June 2019. The bakery has been featured on The Today Show, Telemundo and in Entrepreneur Magazine.
