About 100 Black Men of Atlanta
100 Black Men of Atlanta, Inc. is a nonprofit membership organization headquartered at 101 Jackson St., N.E., 2nd Floor, in Atlanta, Georgia. Its mission is to improve the quality of life by supporting and enhancing educational and economic opportunities, particularly for African-American youth in the Atlanta community. The organization is made up of accomplished professionals from business, law, government, and academia who serve as mentors and civic-minded volunteers, dedicating their time and talents to help boys and girls overcome poverty, under-achievement, and violence. Programs and services include Project Success, a mentorship program; 100 Scholars; a Robotics Alliance; and a Career Pipeline Program that connects young people with career opportunities. The group also runs initiatives and campaigns such as an Anti-Gun Violence Campaign and publishes an annual impact report. Its auxiliary organizations include the Emerging 100 and Collegiate 100. According to figures published on its site, Project Success students have a 100 percent high school graduation rate, 95 percent of program participants are college-bound, and the organization has awarded ,500,000 in cumulative scholarships to graduates; 87 percent of parents surveyed say the program improves their child's academic performance and attitude toward school. The organization hosts community events including its annual 100 Honors Gala, which in 2026 celebrates the group's 40th anniversary. 100 Black Men of Atlanta accepts donations and welcomes new members and volunteers who want to support its mission of mentoring, education, enrichment, and empowerment for the city's youth.
100 Black Men of Atlanta, Inc. traces its founding to 1986, when Atlanta entrepreneur Nathaniel R. Goldston, III brought together 18 friends and associates to build a community empowerment organization focused on the city's underprivileged youth. Goldston had encountered a similar concept at a business meeting in New York, called One Hundred Black Men of New York, and named the new Atlanta coalition after it. The Atlanta chapter became one of eight founding 100 Black Men organizations nationwide, which later joined together to form 100 Black Men of America, now headquartered in Atlanta with more than 100 chapters worldwide and over 10,000 members. Over the decades, 100 Black Men of Atlanta has grown into one of the largest chapters in the network, with more than 200 local members. Its members have become deeply involved in the educational, public policy, economic, social, and health issues affecting Atlanta's underserved communities. As the organization now marks 40 years of service, its members say they remain focused on serving as role models, partnering with the community on causes that promote positive change, and working toward a vision of becoming the city's strongest, most self-reliant African-American volunteer organization dedicated to education, enrichment, and empowerment.
