About Briarwood Cattle Farm, LLC

Briarwood Cattle Farm raises grass-fed Black Angus beef, free-range chicken and pork in Red Springs. The farm sells vacuum-packed farm-fresh meat direct to customers, including eighth and quarter cow shares and family bundles. Briarwood Custom Meats Butcher Shop opened on Blue Springs Road on July 1, 2025, and handles meat processing for local farmers and retailers. The shop offers Halal-certified beef, chicken, goat and lamb, fresh or frozen, cut by a trained Muslim butcher using color-coded knives, totes and cutting surfaces to prevent pork cross-contamination. Grass-fed Halal ground beef and ground lamb are among the most requested items. Small orders up to 10 lbs ship, or customers can pick up locally. The plant includes a demonstration kitchen with cameras for in-person and virtual cooking classes. Briarwood also roasts coffee under the Briarwood Bold label: Dark Roast Cowboy Blend, Medium Ranchers Roast and Decaffeinated Barnyard Brew, sold on Etsy alongside tumblers and mugs. The business is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business, Minority Business Enterprise and North Carolina HUB, and buys cattle from sellers. Its nonprofit, Feeding America Real Meat (F.A.R.M.), runs free food giveaways, gardening classes and carcass training, and hosts an annual Day of Healing focused on mental health and suicide prevention.

Marvin Frink joined the military after high school and served 15 years in the U.S. Army, including a deployment. He returned dealing with anxiety, and his father, the late Reverend Kirby Frink, recognized PTSD and introduced him to farming. Working with cattle daily helped Marvin transition to civilian life, and after his father's passing he continued his father's dream of him becoming a cattleman. In 2015 that dream became reality. Briarwood Cattle Farm is a first-generation cattle farm owned and operated by Marvin and his wife Tanisha Frink, grazing Black Angus cattle. Marvin continues to educate himself in cattle ranching, with support from the Farmer Veteran Coalition, family and community. The Briarwood Custom Meats Butcher Shop opened July 1, 2025.
