About DC Affordable Law Firm

A nonprofit law firm serving DC residents whose incomes are too high for traditional legal aid but who still cannot afford private counsel, providing mostly free legal services. Practice areas include family law (alimony, child custody and visitation, child support, custodial power of attorney, divorce), immigration (humanitarian and non-humanitarian matters before USCIS, the Arlington Asylum Office, and local immigration courts), and probate and estate planning, including wills, powers of attorney, and estate administration. Client intake forms are available in English, Spanish, and Tigrinya, and the site includes a safe-exit feature for visitors at risk. The firm also runs fellowship programs to train public interest attorneys and advocates for systemic changes in DC's civil justice system.
