About Gladys Books & Wine
Gladys Books & Wine is a Bedford-Stuyvesant bookstore and wine bar founded in 2025 by Tiffany Dockery as a sanctuary for Black queer literature and community. The shop curates new releases, lesbian stories, romance, and resistance reads with Black queer and trans women in mind, pairing the shelves with a wine bar built for gathering. A Gladys Family membership program and regular author events extend the space beyond browsing.
Tiffany Dockery opened Gladys Books & Wine in Bedford-Stuyvesant in 2025 with her fellow Black queer femmes in mind, building a bookstore where Black queer and trans women could see themselves reflected on the shelves and around the room. Arched bookcases hold curated fiction and resistance reads, while a tiled bar and lounge seating turn the same space into a wine bar for readings, gatherings, and the kind of community she set out to create.
