Hands Law was founded by David W. Hands, with the site citing both 2004 and 2009 as its establishment. The firm's origin is personal: as a teenager, David watched his mother receive a $600 insurance offer after his brother was struck off his bicycle by a taxi, then lose any recovery when the statute of limitations ran. His nephew, Charles Hands III, was later rear-ended by an 18-wheeler on I-85 and chose Hands Law to handle his own claim before joining the firm. Those experiences shaped the firm's stated aim of being the firm they wish they had had. The office moved to 5457 Monroe Road effective October 17, 2025.
