HW Legal Group is a Charlotte, North Carolina law firm offering comprehensive legal services to individuals, families, and businesses, backed by more than 40 years of combined experience among its attorneys. The firm maintains two office locations in the Charlotte area and positions itself around providing quick, efficient, and reasonably priced legal representation, with a stated focus on helping clients "protect what matters most." The firm was built out of founder Michael Hoard's original practice, which he expanded from Chicago into Charlotte's SouthPark community. Hoard has nearly 30 years of legal experience, beginning his career as a prosecutor with the Illinois Attorney General's Office in 1999, and he currently serves on nonprofit boards that promote fair housing. Partner Lawrence Wooden earned his JD from the Charlotte School of Law in 2013 after undergraduate study at Florida A&M University, and is a licensed mediator with a practice concentrated in employment law, business law, estate planning, and civil litigation; he has also volunteered with the Charlotte Immigration Clinic and the Expungement Project. Together, the two partners bring both courtroom prosecutorial background and community-oriented mediation experience to a firm built around personal attention for Charlotte-area clients navigating real estate, bankruptcy, and estate matters.
HW Legal Group was formed by the merger of Wooden Bowers, PLLC and Hoard Law, P.C. Michael Hoard founded a law firm in his hometown of Chicago and expanded it to Charlotte's SouthPark community.
