About Grandpa's Kitchen
GrandPa's Kitchen serves barbecue and down-home cooking in Littleton. The family-run restaurant smokes pork, turkey and chicken, and plates come with hushpuppies and a choice of two vegetables. Sides include cole slaw, string beans, boiled potatoes, potato salad and black eye peas, plus GrandPa's famous turkey stew. Pig wings, ribs and banana pudding round out the menu. Take-out is available for groups, and the kitchen caters business and private parties.
GrandPa's Kitchen was founded in 1996 as a vision without a name and opened January 17, 1997. Jeffery Allen Mills and his wife Jonnell started the first GrandPa's in Snow Hill with partners in 1995 while working in Newport News. Wanting their children raised near family, they found a vacant cafe in Littleton owned by Conway Williams and opened there in 1997, later giving up their Newport News jobs.
